Club Season Ends, World Cup Season Begins

Most years this weekend brings the biggest game of the year. This year we get to savor one last massive club match and then, of course, we’re right into The World Cup. Let’s start with the biggest match of the week.

Arsenal vs. PSG | Champions League Final | 11:00 AM

The defending Champions League winners collide with the new Premier League champs. Can the Parisians make history and defend their crown or will Arsenal finally claim Europe's ultimate prize and make their already great week into a legendary one?

We expect a full house for this one. The weather is looking perfect for the rooftop and we can’t be more excited to showcase this amazing match.

The Rooftop and Bar are first-come, first-served on Saturday. Our limited reservations in the Lounge have all been claimed. We encourage you to arrive early.

Before we get to the rest of the schedule, we’ll break some news here first.

Matchday Cafe by Soccer House and The Coffee Plug

Having first-rate coffee for those early matchdays was our plan from day-one. The response to our coffee (and lattes and cappuccinos and especially espresso martinis) has been terrific, so in partnership with The Coffee Plug, who selects and roasts our custom blends exclusively for Soccer House, we’re opening up the Matchday Cafe through the World Cup.

We’ll be opening the door at 1226 W Grand Ave every day at 7:00 am, serving our full cafe menu (including bar selections, such as the aforementioned espresso martini plus our Irish Coffee, Sneaky Fox Bloody Mary, and Mimosa), and generally be the place to relive yesterday's matches and get some work done before you strap in for another day of World Cup action.

We’ve got a few more things to finish up before we’re ready to open the doors each morning, but keep an eye on our instagram and your email for our Matchday Cafe Opening Day.

The 2006 Collection in the Shop

While the 2026 roster dropped (officially) yesterday, The Shop has dug up some classics from 20 years ago that are interestingly relevant today. We’ve got a collection of authentic 2006 USMNT World Cup kits named and numbered across nearly the entire roster. It just so happens that the ‘06 roster was the last time the USMNT had both a Berhalter and a Reyna… just like today.

In addition to those, we have Donovan, Beasley, Onyewu, Pope, Olsen, Wolff, and more plus goalkeeper kits from Keller, Howard, and Hahnemann! These gems are extremely limited in size and quantity. We are fairly certain there is not another collection of 2006 kits like this in the world, so come check them out in The Shop now before they are inevitably gone forever.

This Week

As always, the full calendar is at soccerhouse.com/schedule.

Wednesday

Crystal Palace vs. Rayo Vallecano | UEFA Conference League Final | 2:00 PM

The Conference League is great. European competition for teams who never used to have the chance. While you’ve seen the heavyweights square off dozens of times before, these matches are a totally different kind of fun.

Thursday

Egypt vs. Russia | Friendly | 1:00 PM

Ireland vs. Qatar | Friendly | 1:45 PM

Lunchtime World Cup tuneups. Good for players AND good for the rest of us getting ready for the next month.

Saturday

Mexico vs. Australia | Friendly | 9:00 PM

The switch from the end of club season to the start of World Cup season comes quick! This friendly is a must-watch for both fans of El Tri - to see how their side is shaping up - and the USMNT - to get a look at a Group Stage opponent.

Sunday

Switzerland vs. Jordan | Friendly | 8:00 PM

Having great coffee and being open early aren’t just for club matches. Get up early and catch this one with some eggs and a brew.

Germany vs. Finland | Friendly | 1:45 PM

Die Mannschaft were winners in 2014, then out in the group stage in 2018 and 2022. What comes next for Germany is one to watch for this World Cup.

USA vs. Senegal | Friendly | 2:30 PM

The first look at how Mauricio Pochettino sets up his USMNT. We’ll be watching for all the clues about formation, starters, style of play. This one's less about the result and more about what it tells us heading into the big show.
